Cartografías del deseo
A partir de las dos acepciones que definen en el diccionario de la lengua el deseo: “Movimiento afectivo hacia algo que se apetece” y también “Impulso, excitación venérea”, el texto plantea una reflexión sobre el arte del siglo XIX que tomó forma de relato curatorial en 2014 en una exposición organizada en forma conjunta por el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes y la Biblioteca Nacional: La seducción fatal. Imaginarios eróticos del siglo XIX. En relación con ese universo de objetos quisera vincular entonces ambas dimensiones del deseo: el impulso hacia aquello que se apetece (los artefactos artísticos) y el deseo erótico suscitado por los cuerpos y las escenas allí representadas. El asunto pone de relieve además varias cuestiones en relación con los problemas que se plantea la historia del arte: la disciplina se ocupa de una amplia gama de relaciones afectivas y cognitivas que van desde la autoría hasta la asignación de valores y significados a lo largo del tiempo. El deseo aparece en el centro de esas relaciones: objetos que suscitan o sacian el deseo de contemplarlos o poseerlos, imágenes que median entre el sujeto deseante y sus emociones.

Taking as a point of departure the two meanings of Desire in the dictionary: “Affective movement towards something” and “Impulse, venereal excitement ", this article proposes a reflection about the art of the Nineteenth century that was staged at an exhibition in 2014. The exhibition was organized both by the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Library in Buenos Aires in 2014: La seducción fatal. Imaginarios eróticos del siglo XIX. Both dimensions of desire were involved in the selection of that universe of objects: the impulse towards them as objects of desire (as artifacts) and the erotic desire aroused by the bodies and scenes represented. Several aspects of the discipline of Art History are discussed in relation with these issues: it deals with a wide range of affective and cognitive relations between different subjects and objects through time. The desire appears in the center of those relations: objects that raise or sate desire to contemplate or possess them, images that mediate between the desiring subject and his/her emotions.
